Brake comments on proposals to force drug-drivers to complete rehabilitation courses

Commenting on the announcement, Rachel Hayward, head of research, policy and development at Brake, said: “Drug driving impairs driver judgement and puts other road users at risk. Between 2014 and 2020, driver impairment due to use of illicit or medicinal drugs was a contributory factor in a staggering total of 532 fatal crashes, and 2,830 serious crashes*.

“We warmly welcome Government proposals to bring the laws on drug driving in line with those on drink driving, which will help send an even clearer message that drug driving is unacceptable on UK roads”.
